Looking Ahead to 2021…Part 1: The Holiday Season

For most of us, this holiday season will be unlike any other that we have experienced in the history of our lifetime.  Malls are now “scarcely packed” with masked shoppers, holiday parties and events are limited to a select few or cancelled, and family gatherings will now be happening virtually in our own homes.  For some people, the holidays also fuel that one dreaded emotion…the fear of being alone.  That feeling of isolation can be tough on not only our mental and physical bodies but can cause our spirits to fall into a deep, dark hole of depression if not addressed properly.

As humans, the sense of community and belonging is one of the attributes that helps us connect with our humanity and allows us to remember that we are all interconnected through our environment and our collective consciousness.  When we come together to celebrate social and religious holidays the main thing that we look forward to is sharing the joy, excitement, and compassion that we feel with and for others.  The Christmas holiday has always been a favorite time of the year and the one where nostalgic emotions of happiness rise to the surface as moments shared with family, good food, gifts and a celebration of the religious and spiritual meanings of Christmas flood our memories.  It is a time to give thanks, to help others and to show your loved ones how much you care.

This holiday season however has undoubtedly been a time of great reflection and reinvention, a theme that has pervaded the depth and breadth of this year.  One of the things that we have learned about ourselves as a community throughout this time though is how resilient we are.  Through trial and pain, we have still managed to adapt, and continue thriving as individuals.  Some of us have also dealt with the grief of losing loved ones this year and have found ways to keep moving forward day by day, individually and through the support of others.

Another magnificent development that has happened as a result of this year, has been the ability to bring people together to share information in ways that we previously saw as impossible due to limitations in our thoughts about our physical bodies, time and space.  In the past business deals and negotiations could not be conducted without flying out to meet a prospect or client, but now multi-million-dollar mergers and acquisitions are happening over video conferencing technology.  Spiritual and religious organizations are also now able to reach the hearts and minds of more people as they take their teachings, sermons, and outreach programs to online platforms.  Overall, the barriers previously held due to physical limitations have now resulted in a mass shift in our consciousness.

There have also been many advances in the medical and technical fields that will allow us to continue to evolve our societies and prolong our lives, key factors needed for the survival of our young planet.

As we get ready to close this year, we encourage you to reflect on the points below:

-        You are not alone. We share this world with 7.8 billion people, and we are all journeying together.

-        We are designed to be resilient and adapt to any situation that is presented to us.

-        Every day we are breaking through the barriers of space and time as we continue to elevate our consciousness.

2020 has been a year filled with unprecedented moments in history that will forever change the fabric of our society, our country, and our humanity.  During this holiday let us remember the positive changes that we have made throughout the year and give thanks for all our blessings as we start looking ahead to 2021…

At Meditari Institute we understand that the holidays can be a difficult time for members that have lost loved ones or feel isolated from society.  If you require any support or assistance during this time, please don’t hesitate to contact us by visiting www.meditarisanctuary.com
