Does Spiritual intimacy matter when choosing your romantic partner?
The number one question that I have received over the years of intuitive readings and meditations with family, friends and clients is “how do I attract a love partner into my life?”. Whether it is a first-time love, love after heart break or rekindling an existing love, at some point in our lives we focus our attention on finding our “soul mate”. That often elusive soul connection that we yearn for touches our hearts and energizes our bodies in such a way, that we feel a level of euphoria and ecstasy which can only be felt when we are truly connected with the divinity within us.
As we journey through life, it is important to remember that each person that comes into our lives has a contract with us that is agreed upon on a spiritual level, to either test or assist us in our earthly lives. Sometimes we meet people that seem so familiar to us, that without physically knowing them before, we have a “knowing” that we know them. Other times, we form relationships with people that seem so toxic but for some reason we cannot seem to get rid of the feeling of wanting to be with them, or them period. All these interactions occur because of the spiritual contracts that we hold with them.
I was reminded of these spiritual contracts one day as I was talking to my son. I said to him that as his mommy I have known and loved him the longest of everyone else that he knows. He then said to me that I was wrong. He said that before he was even conceived, he was watching me and chose me to be his mommy in this lifetime to support him, so he knows me longer than I have known him. The parent-child contract is the first and one of the strongest spiritual contracts that we form with each other and through these bonds, we start building the blueprint for the romantic soul mate partnerships that we seek later on in life.
When we begin to understand the types of spiritual contracts that we have with each other, it then becomes important to ask, “do we really consider spiritual intimacy when choosing a romantic partner?”
We all have that list of attributes that we want in a mate. We look at height, weight, looks, financial stability, security, ability to cook, can they clean, is the sex good, how do they get along with our friends, and the list goes on and on…but do we really consider if we can continue to grow spiritually and really achieve true enlightenment when considering our romantic partners? Is this someone that I can pray and meditate with? Do they feed my soul? Can we support each other with our spiritual goals? Does this person make me feel good not only physically but also spiritually and emotionally? Can I truly unleash my sexual and sensual energies with this person? These are a few of the questions worth considering whether you are looking for, or currently involved with your romantic partner.
Over the next couple weeks, we will continue to explore spiritual intimacy on a deeper level and dive into ways to connect or reconnect with our sexual and sensual energies, as pleasure, whether physical, emotional or mental is key to supporting us on our spiritual journey.
